Trailblazer Weekend

It was a perfect weekend to go camping and explore different activities while earning badges. The different activities the dens explored were STEM, Nature/Outdoor skills, Field Sports and Crafts. The kids were able to choose from the three popular activities and learned how to be safe while on the range: Slingshot, BB Gun, and Archery. We did discover a Pirate Ship while waiting for our next round of fun to begin. Before heading back to camp for dinner, the kids did enjoy the games and crafts at the pavilion as well.

After dinner, we attended the Closing Flags and Campfire Show. We were entertained by each Pack and Troop performance. The Webelos represented our Pack with a hilarious skit. The Campfire ended with a flag retirement ceremony which was great for our newest members to witness a flag being retired. Overall, it was a great experience for everyone and we hope to do it again next year with more members from the Pack.

This is their “homecoming” show as it is the last flight of the season at their home base at Pensacola NAS. On Saturday, we will tour the USS Alabama, a WWII fast battleship that took part in many campaigns in the Pacific. This ship employed the largest guns in the US fleet, able to fire a 2700 pound projectile over 20 miles! Popcorn Sales

Selling Popcorn is a great way to raise money for our pack, and earn awesome prizes in the process. To help keep track of all the sells, you can download the Trailend’s app to your device. The app can help create links to your Scout’s account that can be shared to social media, email or text messages. We also have designated weekends for Show-and-Sell. This is a great way to sell a lot of popcorn in a short amount of time. It’s not uncommon to sell $500 worth of Popcorn in a 2 hour shift. Here is the link to sign up for a day and time at Reveille Cafe and/or Eggs Up Grill at the corner of Shallowford Rd and Sandy Plains:  https://www.signupgenius.com/go/60B0A49A8A823A4FB6-2021

School Cleanup 2021

Believe it or not, the county doesn’t provide any landscaping services other than cutting the grass. So, Pack1714 pitched in and helped spread tons of pinestraw and mulch that was donated to the school. It was a HOT morning to be doing yard work but everyone worked hard and got everything spread out nicely. That’s great teamwork, thanks everyone!

Congratulations to all of our Cub Scouts that were able to earn their ranks!

This also is the last meeting and activity for the 2021 school year and the end of one of the strangest years anyone can probably remember. Thank you to all the families that stuck with us through these trying times and helped make Scouting a safe and fun experience for everyone this year!

Spring Family Camp 2021

Scouts go camping rain or shine, that’s part of the learning experience of Scouting. Not every weekend is going to be perfect and this one was far from it. Folks got to find out the hard way whether their tents and other gear was waterproof or not.

The morning slog to all the events was pretty wet but we still had a great time shooting BB guns, sling shots and arrows, talking on a ham radio, building crafts and several other activities. Fortunately, it cleared up after lunch and we had a nice afternoon before we got another wave of rain right after dinner. Besides the fun of the activities, some of our Scouts learned they need to plan better when it’s going to rain and that’s a good thing to know how to do.

Blue & Gold Banquet 2021

The Blue & Gold Banquet is where we celebrate the birth of Scouting. This year’s celebration was at MacFarlane Park where we had box dinners and a variety of fun games for the Scouts.

We finished up the event with a marshmallow roast and a flag retirement ceremony.
